6 hurt when SUV crashes into home

Staff report
Friday, July 27, 2007

A sport utility vehicle crashed into a home near the Crosstown Expressway late Wednesday in a three-vehicle wreck that sent six people to hospitals and left the driver facing a drunken driving charge, Charleston police said.

The Dodge Durango hit the home near Spring Street after colliding with a Honda and a Mercury about 11:50 p.m., a police report states. A witness detained the driver, 47-year-old John Borden of James Island, until police arrived.

Borden was charged with DUI after being treated at Medical University Hospital for bruises, police said.

None of the others involved sustained life-threatening injuries, police said.

I'm also glad that there were no serious injuries. Drunk driving really ticks me off, especially when you have had so many friends lose their kids to this growing epidemic. I also hate the fact that the media always has to mention that a vechicle involved was a SUV. They make it sound like the SUV is the culprit not the driver. For their info SUVs come in all sizes these days, so what does it matter.

Wonder if the driver feels satisfied. Saddest part of this is that he will do it again, I bet. Especially right there, I almost got hit in my lil Honda last Friday driving through that same area. Makes me wanna stay home at night. I rarely leave the house after 10pm now just because of people like this, riding along the walls and swerving at about 95mph. Crazies!

I thought that no smoking ban would stop this kind of thing? Oh excuse me we can drink and drive but not smoke and drive or smoke and eat oh I am confused. Ban drinking alcohol and you will see a national riot
