The Patriots Point 4th of July Blast! Mount Pleasant
From 4 to 11:30 p.m., enjoy a fantastic food court, beer garden and “The KidZone.” As the sun starts to set, center stage will heat up with The East Coast Party Band. At 9:30 fireworks will be launched from the flight deck of the USS Yorktown. Admission to landside events is free.
July 4
Red, White and Blue on the Green Downtown Summerville
Starting at 4 p.m., experience an old- fashioned celebration focused on families and the community. Includes a non-motorized parade, magic show, games and activities for children of all ages, live music, jump castles and food vendors. All proceeds benefit Historic Downtown Summerville. Fireworks show will start at 9 p.m. at Gahagan Sports Complex. No coolers/alcoholic beverages allowed.
July 11
Third Annual Palette and Palate Stroll Downtown
Stroll through the historic streets of downtown Charleston from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and enjoy an array of breathtaking art while indulging in fine cuisine prepared by a circle of prestigious local chefs. Cost is $40 per person and tickets are limited. Reservations are required.
Enjoy an interpretive paddle at dusk at the Caw Caw Interpretive Center. Witness the sun as it slips below the trees of Caw Caw Swamp and watch the moonrise over Tea Farm Creek. A registered and paid chaperone is required for participants age 15 and under. The event is open to ages 9 and over and costs $15 for Charleston County residents and $18 for non-county residents.
August 21-24
Charleston Beach Music and Shag Festival
Downtown and West Ashley
Dance the nights away during this classic festival. Thursday and Friday events will take place at Pivots Beach Club, with advance tickets priced at $15 ($25 for both days). The party moves to the Citadel Alumni House on Saturday and Sunday, featuring multiple bands and dance lessons for $30 per person ($50 for both days).
August 23
9th Annual Race for The Ark 5K Run/Walk Summerville
Get up early on a Saturday morning to get some exercise! This 5K run/walk starts at 7:45 a.m. at 206 Central Ave. Last year 350 people participated, raising $15,000 for the ARK, an adult respite care center in Summerville and St. George for the caregivers of those who are suffering from Alzheimer’s.
Participate in one of the Lowcountry’s biggest one-day fishing tournaments on the Folly Beach Pier. Registration begins at 6 a.m. and is only available on-site. The tournament ends at 4 p.m., and prizes are awarded at 4:15.
Lyle Lovett july 5
A genre-bending country music artist for more than two decades, Lyle Lovett is a wonderful live performer, especially in an intimate venue such as the North Charleston Performing Arts Center. Performance starts at 8 p.m., and tickets are $46.50 plus applicable fees.
The Regiment is the official fan club of the Charleston Battery. Membership includes raffles, tailgating, Battery memorabilia, and a whole lot of cheering friends.
