Armstrong still out with ankle injuryPosted 04:29 p.m., May 8, 2008 Charleston Battery midfielder Stephen Armstrong is still a couple of weeks away from getting onto the field. Armstrong, the team’s leading scorer in 2007, has an ankle injury that is left over from his Chicago Storm season in the Major Indoor Soccer League this winter. Armstrong, who has 18 goals over the past two seasons for the Battery, has been training on a limited basis. The Battery takes on Miami FC Blues Friday night beginning at 8 p.m. at Blackbaud Stadium. Note the special start time. The game will be televised on FOX Soccer Channel. The Battery tied 2-2 with Miami FC in the season opener. Midfielder/striker Ian Fuller is listed as probable for Friday. He has trained all week, so at the very least he’ll come off the bench for the Battery. Defender/midfielder Chris Corcoran has been training all week, but will still need at least a week to get into match shape. Corcoran has a sore Achilles tendon. Midfielder Dominic Cianciarulo, who had both goals for the Battery against Miami FC in the season opener, will be available against Miami. The former Furman star missed the last two games with a sore hamstring. Defender John Wilson will be back in the lineup after serving a one-game suspension for a red card he received against the Carolina RailHawks. According to team President Andrew Bell, there will be a "massive" fireworks display after the game. APM |
