Berkeley County authorities seized about 28 ounces of marijuana this week while conducting a search of a Moncks Corner home.

The find resulted in the arrest of 29-year-old Derrick James Holmes, of English Oak Circle. He was held on Wednesday at the Berkeley County jail, charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, sheriff's deputies reported.

The Sheriff's Office's Drug Enforcement Unit conducted the search of the English Oak Circle residence. According to authorities, the drugs that were found there would be worth around $8,300 on the street.

Holmes was released from jail this week on $20,000 in bail.
